2008 marks the fourth presentation of the Singapore Media Awards (SMA). An important change this year is the invitation for nominations for the Special Achievement Awards. They are; Media Person of the Year, Young Media Person of the Year and Media Sales Person of the Year.
These categories are free of entry fees and may be submitted by anyone in the industry - be it clients, media owners or agencies.
Shortlisted nominees will be asked submit a detailed profile and supporting documents for the final judging as their credentials are an important consideration in deciding the winner.
The SMA Special Achievement Awards aim to promote media professionals as role models who demonstrate commitment to the development of our media industry through outstanding performances, and dedication to innovation and quality.
Harpreet S. Kaintel, SMA 2008 Chairman, said: “We are constantly reviewing and seeking ways to improve and build SMA into a better show. Hence this year, we have decided to move the Special Achievement Awards into one that is nominated by the industry. By removing the entry fees and changing the selection process, we hope to encourage greater participation from all sectors of the industry, providing a sterling recognition of a media talent.”
