A
total of 11 agencies will compete
for the Singapore Media Award’s
(SMA) top prize across various
categories and the coveted Grand
Prix for the best overall media
campaign and Media Agency of
the Year Award, which will be
presented at the Awards Show
at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia
Singapore on 5 September.
SMA recognises and celebrates
the accomplishments of Singapore’s
media talent, innovation and
success. It pays homage to the
best and brightest in Singapore
who pushed the limits of media
innovation and also demonstrates
how the media and media owners
play an important role in the
success of a well-executed advertising
campaign.
This year, the organizers introduced
an invitation for nominations
for the Special Achievement
Awards – Media Person
of the Year, Young Media Person
of the Year and Media Sales
Person of the Year – in
response to feedback received
from previous years. These categories
were free of entry fees and
could be submitted by anyone
in the industry – be it
clients, media owners or agencies.
Shortlisted nominees were asked
to submit a detailed profile
for the final judging as their
credentials are an important
consideration in deciding the
winner.
The nominees vying for this
year’s Special Achievement
Awards are: Media Person of
the Year - Joan Han (Mediaedge:cia)
and Pat Lim (PHD Singapore);
Young Media Person of the Year
– Ariane Goo (OMD Singapore),
Diana Lam (Mediaedge:cia), Huang
Mei Fen (Mediaedge:cia) and
Nirelle Goh (Starcom Media Worldwide);
Media Sales Person of the Year
– Eileen Chia (ACP Magazines),
Janet Loh (JCDecaux) and Sabrina
Tan (JCDecaux).
Now in its fourth year, senior
representatives from clients,
creative agencies and media
owners comprise the SMA jury
panel. With an increase of entries
and nominations, a total of
57 judges were gathered this
year.
This year, the Singapore Media
Awards attracted a total 186
entries - excluding the Special
Achievement Awards - an 8% increase
compared to last year and the
highest record since SMA started
in 2005. The number of nominations
for the Special Achievement
Awards more than doubled the
previous year’s number
of entries for the same categories.
