In the second instalment of “Crowbar Winners - Where are they now?” meet Gen Tan, our very first Best of Show Winner for Design Category.
Described as a great asset and closet fashionista who crafts pure and simple yet innovative designs by Roy Poh, Creative Director of Kinetic Singapore, Gen's entry “Still Delivering” for SingPost caught the eyes of the judges and won her the Best of Show for Design in 2001. Since then, Gen has left her mark in various agencies such as Duffy and 10AM and is now pushing the boundaries with Roy Poh and his team of misfits in Kinetic Singapore.

Then just a starry eyed student, Gen stepped into the awards armed with an “I have no clue about the industry or the awards. So I guess there was nothing to lose” mentality, this accidental tourist nonetheless managed to wow the judges, snatch a Crowbar and subsequently trail blazed into the creative industry.
Attributing her big break into the creative industry to the Crowbar Awards, Gen's win has led her to meet a whole slew of inspirational people, and has created opportunities for her along her path to success, one of which was her internship at Fallon Minneapolis.
When asked where inspiration comes from and if she had any advice for future Crowbar winners, Gen, who is presently keeping her self busy perfecting the art of cooking Japanese Curry Rice had this to say “They (Inspirations) are everywhere… Presentation is just as important as the idea and execution.

“Where Are They Now”, is a feature on a select few of past Crowbar winners who have done well in their careers and hope that they will serve as an encouragement to many others.
