The results indicate each school’s performance at the Crowbar Awards – the premier competition for students in the creative disciplines of Advertising, Design, Film, Interactive and Photography.

Since 2001, the Crowbar Awards has been a platform for individuals to showcase their best work and gain a foothold into the industry.

Raymond Chin, who won a Crowbar at the inaugural Crowbar Awards, is now a Creative Director at JWT Shanghai.

Gen Tan, a Temasek Polytechnic graduate who also won at the inaugural Crowbar Awards, is now a designer at Kinetic Singapore. “Winning the Crowbar Awards has helped me meet the right people. They have inspired me and created opportunities along the way,” said Gen.

The 2009 Crowbar Awards is now accepting submissions. Last year, a total of 27 schools – 18 local and 9 international – participated in the competition.

“The creative industry is highly competitive and only the most talented succeed,” says Crowbar Awards 2009 Co-Chairmen, Justin Lim and Koh Hwee Peng of Grey Group. “We hope the schools can inspire their students to truly shine.”

Whoever tops the Crowbar Awards this year will get the chance to test their mettle in the real world with a 6-month internship. The winner will work at Batey Ads, a Grey Group company synonymous for creating iconic advertising such as the Singapore Girl.

Entry submissions begin now. Entry deadline is 5 June, 2009. Entry details can be found at www.crowbar.com.sg.

About the Crowbar Awards:

Organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (4As), the Crowbar Awards is an annual platform for emerging young creatives to showcase their best works and learn from their peers.

The first Student Creative Awards was held in 2001, where students were encouraged to “grab a crowbar and break in.....to the industry....”, thus it was affectionately dubbed the Crowbar Awards. From a local event to one that reaches beyond the boundaries of national lines, the Crowbars have certainly evolved over the years. Turning international has attracted entries from countries as close by as across the causeway to as far away as the United Kingdom, China, Australia and New Zealand.
