Crowbars Open for Entries With Child Prodigy As Favourite

Singapore , 24 March 2008 – For the first time since its inception in 2001, The Crowbar Awards officially open for entries with a clear favourite to win.

Six-year-old Billy Lee is creating a buzz around the industry as advertising's first-ever child prodigy. He has an IQ of 207 and has already won the praise and endorsement of top creative directors, including Linda Locke, Chairperson of the 4As Creative Advisory Panel.

“I did laugh off the notion of an advertising child prodigy, but Billy has certainly impressed me with his book. I like him.”

4As, the organiser of The Crowbar Awards, has indicated that it will not reject the boy's entries.

“There is no minimum age in the entering of the Crowbars. Rather than prohibiting Billy, we're encouraged to see the spirit of advertising creativity in ever-younger talent,” said Chua Bee Hong, Executive Director of 4As.

The Crowbar Awards highlight the best emerging talent in creative communications and design. It is an annual platform for emerging young creatives to showcase their works and learn from their peers. Entries close on 9 May 2008.

Lee cannot be reached for comment. However, his blog can be viewed at www.beatbilly2008.com.

About the Crowbar Awards:
Organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (4As), the Crowbar Awards is an annual platform for emerging young creatives to showcase their best works and learn from their peers.

The first Student Creative Awards was held in 2001, where students were encouraged to “grab a crowbar and break in.....to the industry....”, thus it was affectionately dubbed the Crowbar Awards. From a local event to one that reaches beyond the boundaries of national lines, the Crowbars have certainly evolved over the years. Turning international has attracted entries from countries as close by as across the causeway to as far away as the United Kingdom , China , Australia and New Zealand.

The 4As is not only committed to preparing and nurturing students for our fast growing and vibrant creative industry, but also providing a platform for the industry to recognise the most promising talents out there.
