Singapore Media Awards 2007 Winners Announced - OMD Wins the Coveted Media Agency of the Year Award While MindShare Singapore Clinched the Prestigious Grand Prix Award for the Best of Show.

Singapore , 21 September 2007 - The media industry's annual Singapore Media Awards were handed out this evening during the Gala Dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, with OMD Singapore clinching the Media Agency of the Year award. This is the first time that SMA is presenting the award, honouring the agency that tops the results tally.

OMD Singapore collected three awards:

•  Best Use of Digital for M&M's Christmas
•  Best Use of Radio for M&M's Dark Hour
•  Best Integrated Media Campaign for McDonald's Good Breakfast Great Morning.

14 awards were given out altogether covering 11 single and campaign categories, Young Media Person of the Year, Grand Prix and the Media Agency of the Year.

MindShare Singapore bagged the Grand Prix award for Nike “Just Do It” campaign. It also won Best Youth Marketing Campaign. The winners will attend the Cannes International Advertising Festival next year. Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions, sponsor of the Grand Prix category will receive the winners in Cannes and will organise a surprise event package for them during their stay.

Commenting on the entries, Arjun Gupta, Group Vice President & President from Kraft Foods said, “The work shown was extremely innovative and very much based on strong consumer insights and a very good understanding of where the consumer is interacting with different forms of media. So I find it to be extremely stimulating and interesting."

Receiving this year's Young Media Person of the Year Award is Ray Pak from PHD Singapore. This special achievement award honours the individual who has excelled in their career and is capable of a leadership role not just in the agency, but also in the industry. The shortlisted candidates were interviewed by a specialist jury panel as part of the judging process.

Said David Henry, General Manager, Corporate Marketing of Samsung Asia, “Ray showed a very strong track record in terms of his career progression which has been very fast to date, and combined with his excellent communication and people skills, this made it very clear that he should win the award.”

Organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (4As), SMA entered their third edition this year.

" Today's SMA winners represent the very best in our media community,” said Gan Boon Guan, SMA 2007 Chairman. "We salute the people and organizations who are constantly transforming our media industry with visionary and innovative ideas.

A record 184 entries from more than 10 media agencies were showcased at SMA this year, making it a 20% increase from last year's event. A full list of the winners can be found at www.sma.com.sg .

•  The tally is based on the results of the campaign categories only.
•  When a finalist goes on to become a winner, it shall relinquish the finalist title and the finalist point is no longer counted (meaning the winner shall collect 10 points).
•  The Grand Prix is an additional award given to the Best of Show. If a winner goes on to win the Grand Prix, it shall retain the winner title but the winner points (10 points) will no longer be counted as a Grand Prix winner is given 20 points.
